Stone Oak Lawn Care

Lady on lush green lawn.
The days of homeowners having the free time to personally care for their garden landscapes have gone. Everybody longs for that perfectly manicured lawn with flourishing, colorful flowers but not many of us have the time to do the required work ourselves.

Call us now for that perfect lawn and beautiful garden 210 555 5555
The first impression of most homes is usually the garden.  No matter how beautiful your home may be on the inside, if you have an untidy messy garden it will set the wrong impression from the start.
Perfectly manicured lawns,  neatly trimmed hedges and colourful flower beds will not only impress your neighbours and guests but when the day comes that you wish to sell your property, small enhancements like this may help to get you that asking price you were looking for.
Texas weather is some of the best in the world, especially in summer time. We love to spend our days outdoors enjoying a BBQ with family and friends or children playing sports on the lawn. A messy lawn or untidy garden not only looks bad but may have insects such as fire ants and mosquitoes that would end any plans of enjoying your day outside.

San Antonio has around 30 inches of rainfall per year which is below the national average of 38 inches. All too often we see some years with only 20 inches. We can't always rely on mother nature to produce the goods at the required time so a good quality irrigation system is a perfect way to ensure your yard has the right amount of water at exactly the right time. Check out the Irrigation page to find out more.
Gardening tools

Our landscaping professionals will be able to advise you on the best garden design for your yard or possibly a change in the way you care for your existing garden.
We all have different amounts of space to work with on our properties and our gardening technicians will use their experience and training to get the most out of your yard no matter how big, small or odd shaped it may be.

Fine cut lawn.
The average yard size in Texas will be around 7800 sq ft. This would cost you anything from $20 per month for simple lawn care to $450 for landscaping on a larger property. With all our warm weather and plentiful rain, your garden will always be growing and the most common lawn service is a biweekly cut which would also include maintaining your edging.
There are many types of grass available but the most popular by far is Augustine Grass in 61% of Texas homes. The type of grass we suggest will depend on what you want out of your yard and what will grow best in your specific area. Other popular lawn grasses are Bermuda Grass, Centipede grass, Zoysia grass and Buffalo grass each with their own pros and cons. Have a look at the  Lawn Care page for more info.

A very quick way of getting that perfect looking lawn is with the use of sod. This is basically rolls or sheets of pre-grown lawn that are laid out over the required area and take little time to produce that golf course look. The time saving technique comes at a price and you can expect to pay anything from $0.35 to $0.85 per square foot for the rolls or mats of sod. Centipede and Zoysia grass would be more costly while Kentucky Bluegrass or Bahia would be less expensive. Please visit the sod installation page for more information.

One lawn care task that is often overlooked is lawn aerating. Maybe this is because people are not sure if or when this should be done. An easy way to check if you need to aerate the soil is to push a screw driver or garden fork into the soil. If there is a lot of resistance or you are not able to push anything in at all then it is absolutely time for soil aeration. For more information, ave a look at our Lawn Aerating page.

You may have a beautiful yard but if it is over run with insects and bugs that prevent you from enjoying it then whats the point? Our services cover insect and bug control that keeps you and your family bug free while protecting your garden with the most environmentally safe methods.  We will always suggest an organic treatment for your garden unless it is completely necessary for something chemical. Here are some key pointers to ensure you are asking for the correct treatment. Pesticides are used to keep a broad range of unwanted insects at bay. This would be what you use as a preventative method. Insecticides are used to target a specific type of insect like ants, snails or wasps. This would be used after you have identified what insect is causing the problem. Herbicides are only for weeds and not to be confused with anything used fo insect control.

Pesticide warning on lawn
Insects and Bugs like fire ants not only spoil your family's outdoor fun but also have a detrimental effect on your lawn and plants. While ants and bugs are a vital part of any ecosystem, you should control their population to find that natural balance. When the word pesticide is mentioned, people think harmful chemicals but the truth is there are many natural Solutions like Neem oil or even soapy water that can do just as good a job. Be sure to check out our Insect Control page for all options.

There are many types of insects you will find in your yard. A lot of them are very helpful for a healthy garden but some are most definitely un-wanted. Some bugs or spiders are just a nuisance but others can pose a serious risk to your family and pets. There are even some insects that are a bit of both. Bees for instance are extremely beneficial to a garden but come with obvious dangers.
You should be sure to discuss exactly what type of plants, fruits or vegetables you have in your garden as they will all have different requirements. Anything edible should only be treated with the advice of a professional.
